A gruesome discovery in the 1970s takes the police back to 1938 to a French cocktail party where rivalry and revenge are in the air.
Randolf Dangersmith is trying to get Vera duBois, to star in his new film with Frances Fogbound, whose close friend Evelyn, has a rivalry with Prof. Underhill, who’s providing the screenplay. The Professor gives Vera with an Egyptian ring to wear in the film, only for it to be stolen in plain sight.
PC Citroen is after Randolf for high-profile jewel thefts.
